I went for an ass chilling cycle on the iron steed a couple of weeks ago and then headed to Barshaw Park in Paisley for a homely cuppa and a scone which was the size of a planet.. The Rowantree Cafe is situated within the parks grounds and is a great wee place. Its in the main home made grub, nae fancy looking cakes which cost you the earth just a selection of food that your mammy would make..I make scones myself and know the score about cost etc so i was well chuffed when i got a cuppa and a scone for £1.50 notes.Nae fancy tea that day but nae rubbish either, just a good cuppa. They make home made soup,i think it was lentil that day and i knew it would be good just by the quality of the other stuff  on offer, but being a lentil muncher i was in nae mood for it.Although the grub is good and the toilets clean, quick check before i dined !what impressed me more than anything was the wifey who worked there. She could have been the owner?,i dont really know but what i do know is that she excelled in her job.Not just the clean tables etc but she had the ability to make you feel welcome and for me that goes a long way.Apart from a wee regular cuppa their was an array of other teas on offer plus the usual selection of juices etc.and of course a cup of the brown bean elixir that we all so enjoy of a morning, afternoon, okay anytime..The cafe has been in the park for seven or so years and the wifey is still smiling!so its well tried and tested.,i also think its open seven days a week?must go back and check,,oh for the love of dodgy hormones and subsequent memory like a sieve..Take your mammy, granny, aunt uncle ,weans and any other relative you are talking too and settle in for a cuppa or two.

While attending the Carnival in Barshaw Park on the 9th of August, myself and 5 other people decided to get food and drinks from Rowantree Cafe. When we arrived there was plenty of empty tables, all filled with plates and glasses from the previous customers. I had a look at the menu and saw that cans of soft drinks are £1.20 each, it was a sunny day and we were all thirsty so this was not such a big deal. I ordered a Combo Sharing Platter and a can of Irn-Bru, I was charged £1.60 for my can even though the menu stated otherwise. I searched for a empty table with no plates or empty cans on top and was completely out of luck.
The tables were filthy, absolutely disgusting for a so called cafe. I waited 40 minutes for my food to be brought out to me. In those 40 mins the people I was with had been handed dirty cups with leftover food at the bottom, food with hair garnishing, not to mention warm cans and cold food. I continued to wait patiently until I had come to breaking point. I walked up to the counter to ask when my food would be ready and that I have been waiting 40 mins for it. The woman then went into the back for a couple of seconds and then said "aw eh it's no even been put up yet". 40 minutes wait and my order had not even been placed, I wouldn't expect that from a busy city centre restaurant on a Saturday night nevermind a half empty cafe with more staff than they had common sense!

Anyone that is even contemplating visiting here I would urge you not to, none of the staff are wearing hair nets(yet majority have long hair), in the 50 mins I was in the cafe not 1 table had been cleared and cleaned, the woman working at the front was eating food while preparing tea and coffee, the dishes were not even remotely clean, the prices were not a reflection of the food.

In summary, dirty, over priced, rude, unorganised, unhelpful and just an absolute disgrace.

my daughter myself and 3 grandchildren where going into cafe for drinks and snacks but first went to toilets outside but they where closed asked at front entrance if they had a toilet in there and went to make our way inside the so called owner (she said she was) barracaded the entrance to the toilet and refused us to use it!! i could not believe it ,i asked again " are you refusing us to use your toilet and she said yes i explained we are coming in to eat and drink but by this time i was so angry by her attitude i told her she is unbelievible and im shocked she is even running a place like that with her people skills ...........other customers walked out also once outside i took a picture of name of cafe as i am now going to complain to local council and she came out took my car registration and i informed her would give her my name also if she wanted it and she said" you got a face i couldnt forget" would avoid it if i was you !!
